CAT to pump more money into hotel allotment system

Creative Advances Technology Sdn Bhd (CAT), an MSC-status company, has invested some RM15 million in what it described as a "revolutionary" hotel allotment system (HAS).
"And we will continue to pump more money into this technology, which is the first in Asia," said CAT founder and chief executive officer Rohizam Md Yusoff.
CAT is the developer of the Smart Online Travel Assistant (SOTA), an online travel platform.
Through SOTA, travel operators can publish their products and services on a widely accessed online travel marketplace, reaching travellers globally without much investments in information technology or manpower.
Under SOTA, HAS was developed to allow hoteliers to manage their sales distribution channels more efficiently by having instant access to room inventory, rates, sales channels and online bookings as well as connect with travel agents and consumers through one online system.
Rohizam said such efficiency can easily save hoteliers up to 20 per cent in cost
"With HAS, they only need to pay US$2 (RM6.36) to us for each booking made, regardless of the number of hotel rooms booked," he told the media after the launch of HAS here yesterday.
He added that since SOTA was put in place, the value of hotel transactions using the platform is about RM10 million. It is from this that CAT gets its revenue from.
Rohizam said since HAS's soft launch last year, 80,000 bookings have been made using the system.
To-date, more than 83 hotels in Malaysia have signed up for HAS.
SOTA has a network of 1,400 travel agents across 46 countries, with 800 of them based in Malaysia.Posted
