SOTA teams up with trade partners to launch major online travel fair

 

Kuala Lumpur, April 21, 2011 – A Virtual Travel Fair organised by SOTA, an integral business unit within travel industry IT specialists Creative Advances Technology (CAT), is set to become the region’s biggest-ever online travel event.

SOTA (Standard Online Tourism Architecture) has mobilised its vast network of travel agents, tour operators, hotels and tourist attractions to offer an unprecedented number of tickets, tours and packages – all available at special rates for the duration of the Virtual Travel Fair from 25 – 30 April. The Fair is designed to attract leisure travellers whose business lifestyles often prohibit visiting travel fairs in person.

“This Virtual Travel Fair is the ultimate one-stop-shop for online consumers”, explains Rohizam Yusoff, CEO of Creative Advances Technology. “It combines choice and value with convenience and security. It was important for us to work closely with the travel trade. The response has been fantastic and our partners have provided some amazing deals for online visitors to the Virtual Travel Fair.”

A survey of the first 1,000 consumers to register online for the Fair puts Australia in pole position as the preferred destination – with Malaysia, China and Thailand in second, third and fourth places respectively. Hong Kong, South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam and France also feature in the top ten destinations preferred by consumers registering for the Virtual Travel Fair.

Online bargains include a wide range of ‘companion packages’ to Bali, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuching and Singapore for just MYR10. For example, a three-day/two-night stay in Bali costs MYR358 for one person and just MYR10 more for the second person travelling.

Consumers transacting via SOTA partner PayPal receive a US$20 rebate when making purchases valued at more than US$200. Cash prizes with a total value of MYR10,000 are also up for grabs in a slogan competition.

“In addition to the iPad 2 we’re also giving five lucky purchasers an iPod nano. Recommend your friends and you could be staying at the Rebak Island Resort. That’s the prize for the top referrer.
