THEMED AS TECHNOLOGY TRENDS FOR TOURISM AND TRAVEL
Kuala Lumpur, May 5, 2010 – The SOTA Tourism Technology Conference 2010, is scheduled to take place this upcoming May 27, 2010 at One World Hotel, Petaling Jaya. This complimentary tourism technology trends conference is expecting participation from over 300 travel & tourism operators locally and internationally.
Creative Advances Technology (CAT) is once again proud to bring back the SOTA Tourism Technology Conference following the success of last year’s conference. This year promises to be a bigger event than last year’s with more international speakers lined up to share their insights on market trends and innovations that are changing the way business is done.
According to Rohizam Md Yusoff, CEO of CAT, there are 1.8 billion Internet users today (source: http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm ). The explosion of the use of the Internet and social media has seen the Internet become a mainstream media. For example, there are over 87 billion searches conducted on Google every month and users have created more than 200 million blogs online and 60 million tweets being sent every hour.
He also stresses on the aspiration of this event, “It is pertinent to note that the integration of technology into our daily lives is profoundly transforming consumers’ behaviour and social practices. The travel industry has already seen this impact their business. Where once, the travel agent was the mediator between the consumer and travel suppliers such as airlines and hotels, the travel consumer now accesses these services directly from a laptop or mobile devices. The way the game is played has changed and the old ways of doing business are not coming back. There’s a need for tourism and travel players to equip themselves with the knowledge and tools to stay in the game.”
“This conference will provide travel operators with an understanding of doing business in an increasingly globalised world and educate our local SMEs on the how-tos to leapfrog their business online. Technology should not be feared. Instead it should be embraced if travel operators wish to maintain their relevance to their consumers,” said Rohizam.
The conference has a compelling list of speakers, such as Mr Greg Duffell, CEO of PATA, Mrs Paz Alberto, President of Phillipine Travel Agencies and Association, Dato’ Faudzi Naim, Chairman of IMT-GT, Joint Business Council; RJ Gurley, Project Director Asian Competitive Enhancement Project, Mr Mario Shiliashki, General Manager of Paypal Southeast Asia and India.
